Baignaia celebrates with fans
Francesco Bagnaia repeated his sprint victory from last year, but this year, the celebrations with the fans took place in MotoGP Bike City. After the black and white chequered flag came down, the Top Three riders headed for the event stage in the Fan Zone to collect their medals and enjoy the moment with the fans gathered there. Same picture on Sunday – Bagnaia on the winner’s podium among the fans – this time at the Track Celebration on the start-finish straight.
Rossi in the house
A loud “Vale!” rings out as a crowd gathers in front of the VR 46 Enduro Racing motorhome. Although Valentino Rossi is not competing at Spielberg this time, he remains the biggest name on the MotoGP scene. The fans still worship the Italian legend who is back at the Red Bull Ring. The nine-time world champion signed autographs and posed for photos.
Selfies with the riders
Autograph and selfie hunters won’t have been disappointed this weekend. Whether during the Pit Lane Walk on Thursday, at the Meet the Riders sessions on Friday and Saturday or at Sunday’s ‘Hero Walk on the Styrian Green Carpet’, the chances of bumping into your favourite rider at Spielberg are extremely high.
Stunts and concerts
While the racing on track was the centre of attention during the day, the entertainment in the evening was provided by some top-class shows in MotoGP Bike City. Trial bike freestyle ace Adrian Guggemos had fans gasping with amazement at his night-time stunt show. The stage performance by local musical acts Alexander Eder and Granada was no less spectacular, creating a festival atmosphere among the fans.
50cc amateurs and MotoGP stars share the Ring
Before the world’s motorcycling elite battled for honours at the Red Bull Ring, the track was given over to hundreds of moped enthusiasts. Wearing imaginative outfits and riding classic machines, they raced each other on the Grand Prix circuit in the first ever ‘MopedGP von Österreich’. The formation lap was led by MotoGP stars Brad Binder, Jack Miller, Marc Márquez, Jorge Martín, Miguel Oliveira, Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernández, who, like the participants, hugely enjoyed the occasion.
