DTM title race heats up after the first hot laps of Spielberg

Mattias Ekström and Lukas Auer battle it out for the 2017 DTM championship. The round at the Red Bull Ring is the penultimate race in the DTM season and will be crucial in determining the title race. With his pink-coloured, 500hp Mercedes, Austria’s Lukas Auer comes into the race weekend in top form and second place in the first free practice session, means goes into qualifying on Saturday brimming with confidence.

“I’m satisfied, but it was only practice. The stakes are much higher on Saturday when it’s all to play for.” Lucas Auer.

FIA Formula 3 – The league of extraordinary gentlemen

There are some familiar names fighting for glory in Formula 3: sons of world champion – Mike Schumacher and Pedro Piquet – Harrison Newey, son of Adrian Newey, Red Bull Racing’s ingenious F1 car designer, and the Austrian emperor’s grandson Ferdinand Habsburg.

The Austrian has won his first F3 race in his rookie season and has high hopes of a podium this weekend. The 20-year-old will start the first race on Saturday from 10th place. But even though this is his home track, he doesn’t feel completely at ease here:

”I’ve got some problems with the corners. Even so, oddly enough I often get a result at the Red Bull Ring which is why I like this track.” – Ferdinand Habsburg.

Audi Sport TT Cup – skiing stars go flat out in the mountains

We’re set for a battle royale on the slopes of the Red Bull Ring as ski stars Benni Raich and. Max Franz race each other.  It’s a clash of styles as the skier with the best cornering technique takes on the fastest. The two ski stars are guest drivers in the Audi Sport TT Cup. Round one, free practice, was won by the Olympic slalom champion with a clear 1.2-second lead. Actually, Benni Raich was more interested in curbing his ambitions and being realistic at the Red Bull Ring:

”I have to hold back because even if we’re familiar with going at high speed, our opponents are racing drivers  – if I’m honest with myself, I won’t have a chance. It’s important that we get through the race in one piece and have fun” – Benni Raich.
