Beautiful cars from a great era of motorsport pitted against each other in hard but fair competition on the race track. That’s the Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge (YTCC for short). “It’s all about driving these cars as fast as possible and having fun at the same time,” explains YTCC promoter Randall Lawson. “We fight fair for every inch of tarmac.”
On the weekend of 9th to 11th June, Spielberg will be laying on an amazing display of historic motorsport. Fans can look forward to an armada of spectacular racing cars. Over the course of the three days, they will get to watch no fewer than ten racing series, including the Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge, the Group C Supercup, the Boss GP, the Alfa Revival Cup, the CanAm & Sportscars, the Sports Car Challenge, the 100 Miles of Red Bull Ring Classics, the Super Sixties and, as a special treat, the Touring Cars Golden Era.
Hard Facts:
Legendary cars from the 60s such as the Pontiac Trans Am, Lotus Elan, Cortina and various Corvettes can often only be admired in a museum but working models will be turning up at the Red Bull Ring in all their splendour for the Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge. The line-up will include historic vehicles from the 1970s such as the BDA Escort, 911 RSR and the Sunbeam Lotus. The odd Trabant will also be on show at the Red Bull Ring Classics. Fans nostalgic for the 1980s will have the opportunity to see the likes of the Alpine GTA, BMW E30 M3, BMW M1, Ford Sierra Cosworth and Porsche 911 in close-up.
