Pole position, sprint victory, race victory – Max Verstappen is two-thirds of the way to completing a clean sweep at the Red Bull Ring. After claiming pole position yesterday, there was no beating the world champion in the sprint today. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will line up behind the undisputed crowd hero on the starting grid for the Grand Prix and the two team-mates will need to be careful not to take each other out as they vie for a good start. All the information on the schedule can be found here
With his victory in the sprint, Verstappen sent a spark through the sea of orange in the stands. The sheer joy of the Orange Army – Max Verstappen’s fans – created an incredible atmosphere for all the other spectators too. Thousands of Dutchmen and women descended on the Red Bull Ring this weekend to support their hero – making the Formula 1 Rolex Großer Preis von Österreich a virtual home race for the Red Bull Racing driver. “The fans give me an incredible amount of energy,” Verstappen said after the sprint.
On the subject of a sprint – all fans who sprint to the Red Bull Ring on Sunday and arrive at the site before 07:30 can look forward to a free can of Red Bull. Please note: Our Early Bird promotion is valid while stocks last on a first come, first served basis. From 09:00 CET, the Styrian Green Carpet will be the next fan highlight at the Red Bull Ring. From 09:00 to 11:00, the drivers and team bosses will enter the F1 complex via the green carpet in front of the Welcome Center.
On Sunday, motorsport fans can expect another major highlight of the schedule with the Red Bull Legends Parade (12:35 – 12:55), along with the Flying Bulls Air Display and the Austrian national anthem performed by Rudolf Buchbinder. The pianist will play his grand piano right on the start-finish straight to the tune of the national anthem and rouse the voices of tens of thousands of fans in the stunning setting of Spielberg.
