Motorsport fans are descending on the Red Bull Ring in huge numbers this weekend. From 13:30, Max Verstappen and the rest of the F1 drivers will take to the track for the first time. In the First Practice Session, the drivers have a chance to prepare for qualifying at 17:00. It provides an important chance to find the perfect setup in order to get in contention for pole position.
The special thing about the 4.318-kilometer track is the sloping location. The maximum upwards gradient is 12 percent and the maximum downwards gradient is 9.3 percent. Three long straights with hard braking points guarantee action and overtaking manoeuvres, while the fluid middle section demands precision. World Champion Max Verstappen probably has the best chance of clinching pole position. With his two victories at the circuit last year, he holds the record for the most wins at Spielberg.
