A dream backdrop at Spielberg with tens of thousands of excited fans has made the drivers of the elite series of motor racing eager for the big 2021 Formula 1 showdown at the Red Bull RingMax Verstappen completed a sensational hat-trick in Red Bull Racing‘s second home race by taking his third pole position in a row. McLaren are celebrating after Lando Norris qualified in second and Sergio Pérez will begin the race in third for the Austrian team.

The drivers are looking forward to the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix:

Max Verstappen (NED / Red Bull Racing): “Taking a second pole at the Red Bull Ring feels fantastic. Hopefully we are successful in the race too! Obviously we want to win, but it won‘t be easy. We lost a little on the straights, but it was still enough. We could have been even better. With two cars starting right at the front we can win lots of points for the team on Sunday. The fans are sensational. It was great to see how they were celebrating, hopping around and quite simply having a great time. No matter if they are wearing orange or not, it is just great to see the fans again!“

Lando Norris (GBR / McLaren): ”I‘m overwhelmed. The last race was really cool, and we have taken another step forward today. I kept the best lap until right at the end, and it was definitely one of the best laps that I have ever driven. The fans are super here, all in orange, and I‘m sure they are supporting McLaren rather than Max! We are a fair bit behind P1, but when I get the chance to challenge Max, I‘ll be ready.”

Sergio Pérez (MEX / Red Bull Racing): ”We are going into the race in a really good position. It could hardly be any better. It wasn‘t easy, and there is some hard work behind it, harder than people think! We can really pick up a lot of points if we  go about it well.”
