Valentino Rossi, VR46, announced at the Red Bull Ring that he will be ending his unique career after the end of the season, having spent over two decades at the absolute top of MotoGP. With nine world championship titles and 89 MotoGP wins, the Italian departs the elite series as a living legend. Rossi has a place in the hearts of his fans not just due to his incredible successes on the racing circuit, however, but also due to his charm and rock n roll status off it. To mark his departure, Ö3 presenter Tom Walek chatted with motorcycling figures at Spielberg about an elite series without The Doctor. One thing is for sure – his fans are clearly going to miss him.
The fans have one more chance to see motorsport icon Valentino Rossi live and in person while they cheer him on in a neon-yellow sea of flags in Spielberg for one last time at the BITCI MOTORCYCLE GRAND PRIX OF AUSTRIA 2021 from 13 to 15 August at the Red Bull Ring. Tickets for the race can be found here.
